– Repeat every day for one calendar year from 1st January 2025 to 31st December 2025.
It really is that simple!
You can also take part in the challenge by either:
– Downloading the Challenge 365 SPREADSHEET to complete each day and submit at the end of the year.
– Joining the iNaturalist Challenge 365 PROJECT page and recording daily via the iNaturalist app.
We’ll provide updates on what wildlife to look out for each month and some of the records received so far.
What to record
Your records could be any form of wildlife you see in Cumbria – just not people, pets or livestock. Some examples could be:
– Plants, animals or fungi seen on your regular dog walk or journey to work
– Plants, animals or fungi seen in your garden or local park
– Observations made through a window
– Wildlife you see as you travel within Cumbria, from fell to coast and anywhere in-between
– Any dead animals found besides roads or killed by cats
– All wildlife including trees, hedges, insects, mammals, amphibians, birds, toadstools etc.
Benefits to you
– A really easy way of making a difference to biodiversity understanding in Cumbria – it will only take a couple of minutes each day (less if using iNaturalist)
– An opportunity to engage with nature everyday, which can help improve your health and wellbeing
– A greater understanding of the natural world around you
– Contribute to a growing community of Cumbrian recorders.
