CBDC is usually involved in one or two bioblitzes a year and each one is unique - the weather, the site, the people, the species - but they are always great fun! Click on the links to look back at some of our previous events and find out what species were seen.

2012 Bioblitz - Watchtree
Cumbria’s and CBDC’s first ever BioBlitz was the June 2012 24 hour Bioblitz with Watchtree Nature Reserve, Tullie House Museum and Carlisle Natural History Society. Together Cumbrian recorders found over 600 species, about 500 of which were new records for the reserve on our database. CBDC staff and recorders entered records into Rodis on the day so we had live updates of how many species had been recorded, although it took some hard data entry in the days following the Bioblitz to enter almost 1500 records from 25 recorders to get the final total! Despite the very poor weather everyone enjoyed the Bioblitz and we showed lots of visitors what the nitty gritty of biological recording is all about. Read the full story in Watchtree’s write up of the Bioblitz and view a summary of the records.
