We highly recommend Bedfordshire Natural History Society's Grab a Grid Ref for obtaining grid references for locations.

Cumbria Tetrads, Hectads and Vice-counties

DINTY tetrads (2km squares) of the form NY33J, hectads (10km squares) such as NY33 and Watsonian vice-counties such as Vice-county 69 Westmorland with Furness are all often used in biological recording. To get the hectad, tetrad or vice-county for a particular place we recommend using the Grab a Grid Reference facility above.
